"Your Black Friend" de Ben Passmore, Alex Krokus & Krystal Downs

He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

“Your Black Friend” written and narrated by Ben Passmore. Animation by Krystal Downs & Alex Krokus of Doggo Studios, sound by James Deangelis. From the 120 page comics collection “Your Black Friend and Other Strangers” debuting in March 2018 from Silver Sprocket.

Dear Hard Work

Dear Hard Work,
I used to hate you,
When you called my name,
I heard it but ran away from you,
When I knew you were coming,
I used to hide from you,
When you influenced others to talk to me,
I quickly made excuses to get away from you.

Afraid of the pain because I didn't want to get hurt
Afraid to fail, so I didn't even try
Afraid of the shame that you might put me through and
Afraid of your name because of what you have done to others

Who do you think you are?
Making me so afraid of who you are?

Reflection in the mirror,
Shadow behind me,
I take one step and still,
Your ahead of me,

Sweat on my face, tears in my eyes,
I keep on going,
I heard you tell no lies,

You turn the poor to rich,
F to A's

Is there anything that you can't do?

Now look at me,
You made me who I am today,
and because of you,
I have this never losing, never giving up attitude

Quitting?
That is not in my vocabulary
When they quit, I keep going,
When they sleep, I work harder,
When they say that I can't and count me out, I show them that I can

When I tell them about my dreams,
And they laugh, I make sure I laugh last.

I'm a dream chaser, that means I chase my dreams, and not no one else's
Only I can defeat me,
It's me against this work you put on me,
There Is no losing -- I will not lose,
I came this far and I'm not stopping now

Oh hard work,
My dad was right about you, you do pay off, and because of that I love you.
How can I not?
I'm no longer hiding from you, I'm waiting for you.

Matter of fact, where are you?

I need you, because in hard work- I trust!

Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

William Ernest Henley

Our Deepest Fear

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

“People that worry about where they’re going next generally don’t end up where they think they’re going. I just worry about what I’m doing now and try to make it good. When you’ve got too much of a master plan, it’s going to fail.”

INEQUITY, BURNOUT AND PSYCHOLOGICAL WITHDRAWAL AMONG TEACHERS: A DYNAMIC EXCHANGE MODEL

(1) a teacher should forget his or her education;
(2) a teacher should forget the theory
(3) a teacher should remember that he or she is a translator, not an originator;
(4) a teacher should respect his or her students;
(5) a teacher should be true to his or her own style;
(6) a teacher should remember that it is his or her classroom
(7) a teacher should not expect gratitude;
(8) a teacher should not take it personally, either;
(9) a teacher should be grateful for the job;
and (10) a teacher should ignore the above.

In teaching you cannot see the fruit of a day's work. It is invisible and remains so, maybe for twenty years.
~Jacques Barzun

Most teachers have little control over school policy or curriculum or choice of texts or special placement of students, but most have a great deal of autonomy inside the classroom. To a degree shared by only a few other occupations, such as police work, public education rests precariously on the skill and virtue of the people at the bottom of the institutional pyramid. ~
Tracy Kidder

The one with the quote about the teacher's job

If a doctor, lawyer, or dentist had 40 people in his office at one time, all of whom had different needs, and some of whom didn't want to be there and were causing trouble, and the doctor, lawyer, or dentist, without assistance, had to treat them all with professional excellence for nine months, then he might have some conception of the classroom teacher's job.

Me too

My passionate sense of social
justice and social responsibility has always contrasted oddly with my pronounced
lack of need for direct contact with other human beings and human

A. Einstein

The release of atomic power has changed everything except our way of thinking ... the solution to this problem lies in the heart of mankind. If only I had known, I should have become a watchmaker. (1945)

Y más Mathematics

One reason why mathematics enjoys special esteem, above all other sciences, is that its laws are absolutely certain and indisputable, while those of other sciences are to some extent debatable and in constant danger of being overthrown by newly discovered facts.

Mathematics

How can it be that mathematics, being after all a product of human thought which is independent of experience, is so admirably appropriate to the objects of reality? Is human reason, then, without experience, merely by taking thought, able to fathom the properties of real things.

Einstein dixit

The most important human endeavor is the striving for morality in our actions. Our inner balance and even our very existence depend on it. Only morality in our actions can give beauty and dignity to life.

- Gene Roddenberry
